August 5, 2022. Four editors of the Russian-language version of “Sputnik Azerbaijana” resigned from their posts. The names of resigned editors are Zulfiya Gurbanova, Jamilya Efendiyeva, Elena Starostina and Gulzar Mustafayeva.
The reason for this resign was the demand of the central office of Sputnik to place on the Sputnik Azerbaijan website information that contradicts to the position of Azerbaijan. Thus, the Russian Ministry of Defense issued a statement refuting Azerbaijan’s official position regarding the “Gisas” (“Revenge”) Operation carried out by the Azerbaijani Defense Ministry on the border with Armenia. Sputnik Azerbaijan was also requested to publish the position of the Russian Defense Ministry, not the Azerbaijani Defense Ministry.
