May 28, 2022. Journalist Afgan Sadigov is among those released under the Decree “On pardoning a number of convicts” signed by President Ilham Aliyev.
It should be noted that Afgan Sadigov is the editor-in-chief of the Azel TV news portal. In 2020, he was found guilty under Articles 182.2.1 and 182.2.4 of the Criminal Code of Azerbaijan (extortion, the unlawful exaction of property through intimidation.) The Baku Court of Grave Crimes sentenced him to 7 years imprisonment on November 3, 2020.
